A Venture Legacy Passes
According to the New York Times, Laurance Rockefeller, the grandson of John D. Rockefeller and one of the first prominent venture capitalists, passed away yesterday. He was a leading financier, backing such companies as Eastern Airlines, McDonnell Aircraft, Intel, and Apple Computer. He also founded the venerable Venrock Associates in 1969, a legacy in its own.
